About Me

Eathan L. Hampton  '12

Hello everyone! I am a general education teacher teaching Pre-K ages four to five in a self-contained classroom with 20% of the students diagnosed with a learning disability. I live in Lakeland with my wonderful son, two dogs, Mississippi and Starburst.

Catherine Hampton
I currently have two bachelors. The first is a BFA in fine art in 1999. For ten years I was a graphic designer designing anything from business cards to billboards. I loved the creativity, but lacked the meaningful fulfillment of having a career. What prompted me to go back and earn my second degree in Early Childhood Education was the death of both my parents within one year of each other. My son who is the only grandchild lost not one, but two grandparents back to back. For the first time I experienced what it meant to truly be a single parent. Before, I had my parents to lean on. So, in 2009 I finished student teaching, passed the GACE and earned my teaching degree. In 2014 I finished my Masters in Middle Grades Math and Science. A note about my picture, while I was looking for "cool" widgets to use on my blog I came across a sight called Be Funky. It is an online sight completely free where you can add visual effects to photos. Since I love art I chose to go with Andy Warhol's impression of Pop Art.

Elaine "Lanie" Hall Hampton
I created this blog Lanie’s Little Learners for two reasons. The first is in memory of my mother Elaine whose nickname growing up was Lanie. She was an early childhood educator, teaching Pre-K for years. She was always encouraging me to pursue my own interest such as a BFA, but she gently hinted at teaching as an alternate career. If she could see me now, I know she would have a “I told you so,” smile on her face :-)

The second reason for creating this blog was to provide educators and parents alike with a source of creative, hands-on activities to encourage active learning. By giving children a voice and choice empowers them. When children feel they are a part of the learning environment they will act accordingly. Feel free to leave suggestions and or comments which are always welcomed.

Most of the ideas are original, you are free to copy, distribute, display, and perform the material provided:
  1. You give Lanie’s Little Learners credit by acknowledging www.LaniesLittleLearners.blogspot.com as the source

  4. Distribution is clearly prohibited. If others would like a copy of the material please direct them to www.LaniesLittleLearners.blogspot.com or my store on TeachersPayTeachers.com where they are able to download the digital versions.

Lanie’s Little Learners is a work in progress. Check back often for new additions. If there is something in particular of interest to you do not hesitate to suggest it. If it is something that I am able to do I will gladly post it.
